How the ETF dividend calculator works
This calculator separates your projection into two parts: price growth (the "Expected annual price return" you enter) and dividend income, based on the dividend yield and dividend growth rate you enter. Each month, it estimates a dividend payment based on your current balance and yield, then either reinvests it — buying more shares that go on to earn their own future dividends — or sets it aside as cash, depending on the option you choose. The yield itself is assumed to grow slightly each year, based on your dividend growth rate assumption.
